Jinky Johnstone remembered by his home town

A statue remembering one of Celtic's most famous players has been unveiled in his home town.

Jimmy Johnstone - known as Jinky - was one of the team's famed Lisbon Lions and a statue had previously been placed outside Celtic's ground.

A rare Faberge egg created as a tribute to Celtic legend Jimmy Johnstone is to be auctioned to help raise funds for a new football school in Lanarkshire.

A lifelong fan of the Glasgow club is selling his prized possession and will donate some of the proceeds to the footballer's son James, who is hoping to fulfil his father's dream of training youngsters in his home community.

The Application is a Multimedia take on the original ‘Tribute to Jinky E.P.’ released shortly after Jimmy Johnstone’s death in March 2006. It features videos, including Jinky in a duet with Simple Minds' Jim Kerr, covering the Ewan MacColl classic, Dirty Old Town. Plus tracks from Shane MacGowan and John McLaughlin. Download here
